Jobwatch 2006 now published

Jobwatch 2006 has now been published.

The annual survey of vacancies held at Jobcentres in Greater Manchester, carried out by Greater Manchester Pay and Employment Rights Advice Service, found that the number of vacancies is still at an all time high and that there are a greater variety of jobs on offer. However, Jobcentre vacancies are still predominantly low-paying and provide low levels of weekly income.

The report continues Greater Manchester Pay and Employment Rights Advice Service's series of annual reports on Jobcentre vacancies in Greater Manchester. The survey was undertaken in ten Jobcentres covering the ten districts of Greater Manchester in April 2006.

Jobcentre vacancy surveys provide detailed and unique data on local labour markets and on a part of the labour market which is under-represented by official employment and earnings statistics.

We have undertaken Jobcentre surveys since 1989 and the inclusion of historical data in the report provides an overview of key changes in the local labour market.
